An Excursion

::::::::An Excursion::::::::::

The Boalia Beel, not very far from our college, is a good haunt of game birds in our district. A few days ago I took two of my hostel-mates with me and went to the Beel on a shooting excursion. My hostel-mates were expert swimmers. We hired a boat and started for the Beel in the small hours of the night. We reached there before sunrise. I had my gun with me. We had also articles of food with us. A little while after sunrise we landed from the boat.  The shores of the Beel were covered with thick of reeds. We very cautiously made our way through the reeds and soon saw some flock of teals floating on water. A little a way ahead very tactfully and shot at a flock of teals. Some of the birds flew away but there rest was fluttering on water. My hostel-mates at once jumped into water, caught hold of almost all of them and carried them to the boat. Them we had our breakfast and started on our return journey. We reached our hostel amidst shouts of joy. It was really an exciting excursion.

A Sleepless Night

by Unknown on Nov.22, 2009, under

:::::::::::::A Sleepless Night::::::::::

The night had far advanced. Sitting beside the bed of the sleeping mother, the boy Bayazid was preparing his lesson. Suddenly his mother raised her head and said, “Give a little water, my darling. I am very thirsty.” Bayazid went to fetch water from the pitcher but he found it empty. Finding no other way he thought of fetching water from the neighboring house, and accordingly went out. But the whole locality  was then fast asleep. Whom would the boy awake at that late hour of night? He remembered of the fountain on the other end of the locality. Then went to bring water from that fountain. When he returned he found that his mother was a sleep. He did not a wake his mother for the disturbing of his mother’s sleep but he stood up by his mother’s bed. All their night he was awakening. It was the ultimate realization of serving the parents.

Travels

:::::::::Funny Experience in a Crowded Bus::::::::::

It was one day in the month of December. I was traveling in a crowded bus form Sylhet to Moulovebazar. AT Sylhet Station a large number of men and women got in, carrying earthen pots, bottles and various kinds of pitchers. Since there were no seats they had to remain standing. Soon I came to know that they had taken part in the annual Urs held at Hazrat Shah jalal’s  Dargah and were them returning home carrying holy water from the dargah tank and spring. The bus started after a littlie while. Can you imagine what happened every time when there was a jolt? Many of us who were seated got drenched by the water that spilled out from the vessels. When we expressed our annoyance, we were promptly told that it was holy water and it would  do us good. They did not quite see why we should complain. So we had to travel all the way getting wet all over with the sacred water. This is one of the most amusing and at the same time most annoying, experiences of my life.
