::::::::An Excursion::::::::::
The Boalia Beel, not very far from our college, is a good
haunt of game birds in our district. A few days ago I took two of my hostel-mates
with me and went to the Beel on a shooting excursion. My hostel-mates were
expert swimmers. We hired a boat and started for the Beel in the small hours of
the night. We reached there before sunrise. I had my gun with me. We had also
articles of food with us. A little while after sunrise we landed from the
boat. The shores of the Beel were
covered with thick of reeds. We very cautiously made our way through the reeds
and soon saw some flock of teals floating on water. A little a way ahead very tactfully
and shot at a flock of teals. Some of the birds flew away but there rest was
fluttering on water. My hostel-mates at once jumped into water, caught hold of
almost all of them and carried them to the boat. Them we had our breakfast and
started on our return journey. We reached our hostel amidst shouts of joy. It
was really an exciting excursion.

::::::::::::::Space Exploration::::::::::
Man has an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. He is never
satisfied with what he has known a seen. He wants to know and see more and
more. This curiosity to know more
coupled with his indomitable spirit of adventure has inspired him to undertake
and carry out difficult and dangerous tasks. In the fields of science and
technology man has already achieved want, which was once inconceivable. After
the conquest of the moon, the scientists have turned their eyes to the Mars,
which is our next-door neighbor in the kingdom of the planets. The scientists
have launched the most massive research program in the history of space
exploration with their Viking Mission to Mars. The Russian scientists were able
to land a capsule in 1971 and then another in 1974. The first one transmitted
Television signals only for twenty-seconds before it became dead. Following
this mission American scientists continued their mission. Then on September 3,
1996 Viking-11 landed on the rock-strewn utopia plain just below the north
polar cap of Mars. The most important purpose of July 4, 1997 the path Finder
of this mission very successfully landed on the Mars. The Robot “ Sojourn’’ is
working well and the press report that mankind within the next 15 years will
land on the Mars.

There is no denying the fact that Ekusher Boi-Malla is of
great significance and utility to us. In the land of many litterateurs. “
Boi-mala/ Book Fair “ plays a very important role. Similarly, in the aromatic
land of Bangladesh the Ekusher Boi-mala plays an utmost significant fore. With
the help of it we are guided by the spirit of our Language Movement. Ekush
signifies the 21st of February. In this day of 1952 some of our
valiant youths dedicated their lives to uphold our mother tongue, Bangla, as
state language. Though this is a month of our sorrow, we bear respect and noble
pride with profundity. To keep the venerable month everlasting in our mind “
Ekusher Boi-mala” is held in the month of February on the premises of Bangla
Academy. There is no room for doubt that “ Ekusher Boi-mala” is the biggest
book-fair in the country. to create more readers of books, book-fairs are also
held in all district headquarters. These are immensely popularized in our
country. Publishers come forth with their new publication. Many eminent writers
come to Bangla Academy stalls and their admirers are thronged around them. Some
autograph hunters beg autographs from their favorite writers. Recitation programs and seminars are also taken place on them open stage. In addition
to these, there are snake where young students sit gossiping. The readers buy
books after their choices. Finally, We can say that Ekusher Boi-mala/Book fair

A Sleepless Night

:::::::::::::A Sleepless Night::::::::::
The night had far advanced. Sitting beside the bed of the
sleeping mother, the boy Bayazid was preparing his lesson. Suddenly his mother
raised her head and said, “Give a little water, my darling. I am very thirsty.”
Bayazid went to fetch water from the pitcher but he found it empty. Finding no
other way he thought of fetching water from the neighboring house, and accordingly
went out. But the whole locality was
then fast asleep. Whom would the boy awake at that late hour of night? He
remembered of the fountain on the other end of the locality. Then went to bring
water from that fountain. When he returned he found that his mother was a
sleep. He did not a wake his mother for the disturbing of his mother’s sleep
but he stood up by his mother’s bed. All their night he was awakening. It was
the ultimate realization of serving the parents.

:::::::::Funny Experience in a Crowded Bus::::::::::
It was one day in the month of December. I was
traveling in a crowded bus form Sylhet to Moulovebazar. AT Sylhet Station a
large number of men and women got in, carrying earthen pots, bottles and
various kinds of pitchers. Since there were no seats they had to remain
standing. Soon I came to know that they had taken part in the annual Urs held
at Hazrat Shah jalal’s Dargah and were
them returning home carrying holy water from the dargah tank and spring. The
bus started after a littlie while. Can you imagine what happened every time
when there was a jolt? Many of us who were seated got drenched by the water
that spilled out from the vessels. When we expressed our annoyance, we were
promptly told that it was holy water and it would do us good. They did not quite see why we should complain. So we
had to travel all the way getting wet all over with the sacred water. This is
one of the most amusing and at the same time most annoying, experiences of my
life.
